Fiona Phelan, VTOS Kilkenny Business and IT Tutor has been awarded a Gold medal for excellence in teaching this month.  Following on from the success of her colleague Donal Costigan and her previous students Mary O’Driscoll, Iris Agar and Anthony Ryan.

Fiona was nominated for the award by fellow tutors Leanne Butler Davis and Frances Doyle and notified of her success in March of this year.

Her teaching career spans 25 years in Kilkenny VTOS, where she has tutored many students in e-Business and Information Processing Awards which has resulted in a large cohort of students excelling in Awards at QQI Level 5 and City and Guilds Level 2 & 3, thus enabling many of these students to progress to Higher Education College courses, other further education opportunities within Kilkenny Carlow ETB and ultimately into a career of their choice.

We are so proud that Fiona’s excellence has been acknowledged by City and Guilds who stated that winning this prestigious award demonstrates that she has displayed exceptional achievement in her field of expertise.

Each year, around 100 medals are awarded to the most outstanding people and organisations across the world, many of whom go on to become top of their field.  We are delighted that Fiona has joined this elite group.

Fiona’s medal will be delivered to her in person by a member of the City and Guilds Group team over the next few weeks.
